Dr. Axel Thiele studied chemistry at the FU Berlin and received his doctorate there in 1977. Until 2014 he worked in the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) in the Pharmacovigilance department. There he was head of the Risk and Pharmacovigilance Inspectorate. Since the end of 2015, he has worked as a consultant and auditor in the field of pharmacovigilance. He is a lecturer at the University of Bonn, Humboldt University Berlin, Beuth University Berlin and Philipps-University Marburg.
